The cacophony of complaints echoes from all around you.
Seeking to drive you to flee, you wait out their impatience.
On this day, the only winning move is not to play their game.
I took these photos on my morning hike November 2, 2024. I heard several American Crows cawing loudly in some trees. I looked around to see why the crows were excited and I saw this Barred Owl perched in this old tree trunk.
After a few minutes, the Barred Owl flew up into a nearby maple tree. The crows continued their cawing and hopping around in the trees.
The Crows eventually lost interest and flew off. The Barred Owl appeared to relax.
This was an nice coincidence. I was on my way to check on the Eastern-Screech Owl that roosts nearby and instead encountered their larger cousin, this Barred Owl. The patience of the owl outlasted the crows. Well-played owl friend, well-played.
