(Canada Goose - photo by Neil Barker - March 24, 2024)
The arrival of Spring brings returning visitors each day.
With each dawn, days grow in warmth and length, preparing for new life.
With new life, new journeys await all, some near and some distant.
I took these photos March 24, 2024. I saw this Canada Goose on my morning hike at Britannia Conservation Area.
A recent post by

Vicarious Birding Joy by James Freitas
Britannia Conservation Area has a lot of Canada Geese that stop over on their migration. In the Spring some geese choose to remain and nest and raise goslings. Others continue on their way further North.
Canada Geese are still arriving here in the Ottawa area. That honking call they make is a welcome reminder that the season is changing form Winter to Spring. It was nice to see this Canada Goose just relaxing and sitting in the sunlight.
Excellent post and photos. Wonderful light for nice moments with an underappreciated bird. And thank you for the mention, Neil!
I have an excellent relationship with Canada geese; I love hearing the honks as they fly overhead in V formation. The constant honking is a reminder of the change in seasons, either the cold weather is coming or the warm weather is coming.
