(Fragrant Water-lily - photo by Neil Barker - July 2023)
Dark murky depths, offered sanctuary and safety to grow.
Straining day by day, you finally breach the water’s surface.
Now is the time for warm sunshine, you blossom, and show the world.
I took this photo in mid-July 2023. The Blue Dasher Dragonfly must have flown in and landed at the last second or two before I took this photo. I was trying to get a nice photo of the Water-lily.
These Water-lilies remind me of the Lotus Flowers I would see when I lived in Korea. It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 10 years since my wife and I left Korea. I’ve been back here in Canada nearly as long as I lived in Korea (2003 - 2014.)
Back here in Canada, on my hikes, I often think about coincidences and what leads to my encounters with Nature. What are the confluence of events that take place for me to see that Water-lily and the unexpected Blue Dasher Dragonfly? Or perhaps a better question would be: is there a confluence of events at all?
brilliant !
Oh wow, if you were trying to get a picture of that dragonfly, it wouldn't have been still for one second...But try for the waterlily, and the dragonfly will photo-bomb! 🤣 Such a great shot!
