Searching in a tapestry of foliage and fallen timber.
Day after day, the search continues in hopes of finding peace.
What if the searching itself is the answer to finding peace?
I took these images June 14, 2025. For the past few weeks, I have been checking this swamp for Green Herons. I found what I was looking for that morning.
The more I think about Green Herons, the more I realize how little I know. I have a new appreciation for their camouflage. The heron blends in with the foliage and fallen timber. The Green Heron is such a beautiful bird.
English - Korean:
Green colour = 녹색 / Noksaek
Heron = 왜가리 / Waegari
Green Heron = 녹색왜가리 / Noksaek-waegari (*Translates as Green colour Heron.)
Peace = 평화 / pyeong-hwa
Neil, I love this Sijo and this line speaks to me "What if the searching itself is the answer to finding peace?" I think "the searching itself" is definitely part of the answer to finding peace. In many ways peace can be elusive and sometimes also fleeting, and so the searching never really stops. Peace is something we're always looking for, whether we recognize that or not.
Loved the videos and seeing how far into the swamp you were searching for the Green Heron. What a beautiful Heron, it's on my list of still haven't seen...
Green Heron, Barker,
brace, balance amidst fallen.
Both searching, both found.
