(Muskrat - photo by Neil Barker - December 2023)
A gray cold winter morning on the river, rain begins to fall.
Swimming with the river current, to a small island refuge.
Stopping to rest for awhile, to eat your morning meal in peace.
I took this photo December 28, 2023 along the shore of the Ottawa River. For the past few weeks, I have been watching the Common Goldeneyes in this part of the river. While I was trying to get into a good position to watch the Common Goldeneyes, I saw this Muskrat swim to this small island with a mouthful of green plants.
I decided to sit and watch this Muskrat instead. This was a nice relaxing start of my Nature hike. I thought back to my earlier encounters with Muskrats in this area. Perhaps this Muskrat was one of those 3 sibling Muskrats I encountered.
There is a flow to Nature that is hard to explain. My encounters with Nature take me out of my daily stresses and concerns. Nature as a whole is timeless.
My earlier posts on the Muskrat siblings:
I've never seen a muskrat in the wild, being a muskrat. Thanks for this little slice of nature!
