Osprey: "Dawn Hawk"
What is it you wait for?
(Osprey - photo by Neil Barker - August 4, 2024)
Gazing east into the rising Sun, a Hawk patiently waits.
As light grows and darkness recedes, a point of change is soon reached.
What is it that the Hawk patiently waits for without worry?
I took these photos August 4, 2024. I was fortunate to see this Osprey perched on an old tree overlooking the Ottawa River.
I hiked about 5 minutes further along the shore to get a better look at this Osprey. This Osprey was staring eastward into the rising Sun.
After bushwacking through some hedges, I walked out onto a small island of rocks and sat down and watched the Osprey.
The Osprey was not in a hurry to do anything and I was not sure if they were even looking for fish.
This Osprey appeared to be simply enjoying the early morning.

Jane Goodall observed one of her Gombé chimps, who would detach himself from his social group and ascend a small grassy elevation nearby to silently observe sunsets.
Carlos Santana had a great song with the title, Blues for Salvador. The refrain went: "Now that you know...what are you waiting for.". The birds are highly aware vehen they perch silently but what is it that stirs them into movement again?
Wonderful photos and encounter with the osprey! Thanks so much for sharing these with us all Neil!
