Wind-blown leaves rustling all around in the late afternoon.
Autumn marches on, stopping for nothing, caring not for us.
May we have but one wish: to have this moment be eternal?
I took these photos on my afternoon hike November 2, 2024. I returned to the area that I had seen the Barred Owl earlier that morning (“Maple Tree Owl” link below.)
I found the owl in a tree nearby. The owl was perched high up in this maple tree.
The Barred Owl watched me from their perch. I slowly sat down to take some images.
I liked the sound of the maple leaves moving in the wind all around the owl and me.
I could have stayed until sunset with this owl simply enjoying the sights and sounds.
After a few minutes, I quietly stood up and continued my hike. I wished this owl a good afternoon and night.

That's also my idea of a perfect moment, Neil. I could also stay there forever.
Such a profound encounter. Thank you, Neil.
Owls are very special creatures.
I keep hearing tawny owls outside my window which is such a privilege. It's always dark though! So I haven't ever seen them. But knowing they're nearby is special.
