Thanks, Richard and much appreciated. This heron was a most patient photo subject and acted almost like a statue except for that brief glance in my direction. :)
BCNH's red eye is one of my favorite colors in birddom. I saw one in a marsh at dawn once and the only thing I could really see was that red side-eye. Haunting!
Wow! What a beauty! Thank for sharing!
Thank, Lynn and happy to share!
Such great captures Neil! Keep the heron pictures and poems coming. Thank you.
Thanks, James and much appreciated! These herons make it easy being so photogenic. :)
... and the herons are noticing you as well! Beautiful work, as always, Neil.
Thanks, Doug and much appreciated! I think you're right - with this heron looking over at me, haha.
Herons are good teachers. We don't have that species down here... a shame.
Agreed, Peter. I seem to learn something new each time I see and observe a heron. Hopefully you have a chance to see one someday.
we have a few kinds, not those beauties, though.
Gorgeous words and photos, Neil. Love that BCNH’s steely blue and steely gaze.
Thanks, Kelly and much appreciated. I felt that steely gaze from this BCNH - such a unique-looking bird.
Great series, Neil! I really like the profile of this Black-crowned Night Heron, a beautiful bird seen from all angles.
Thanks, Heidi and much appreciated! This heron was a very patient photo subject and I was really fortunate to get those profile images. :)
Your patience is a virtue. Or many rapid fire camera clicks. Here on I'll just say, a photo moment well-posed.
Thanks, Richard and much appreciated. This heron was a most patient photo subject and acted almost like a statue except for that brief glance in my direction. :)
Always, your talent in capturing the beauty in life warms my soul. Please keep of the lovely work.
Thank you very much for the kind word, Nancy. Happy to share. :)
The blue and white plumage of the heron is stunning. Lovely photos.
Agreed on their plumage and colours. Thanks and much appreciated.
What a beautiful bird. Love how the shots show it peeking out at you.
They are quite beautiful to see and I was fortunate they were so patient and looked over at me like that. :)
Past glance, Neal gazed, glared.
Black-crowned Night Heron looked back.
Posed with poise, not stare.
Beautifully written description, Marisol.I like that phrase in the final line: "Posed with poise."

That's awesome, Nathaniel and their eye is one of the first things I notice as well.
Oh the thought that Truth is watching me live my life is sobering... lovely pictures, Neil. And I upped my vocabulary...I only knew sun as TaeYang...
Thanks, Rajani and much appreciated. You're right about TaeYang (태양) being a word for the Sun as well. :)
