Neil, could it be that kind, human attention-- which is love-- soothes and even sometimes creates a sort of mutual admiration? I don’t know for sure, but it does feel this way to me. I never get tired of observing nature. It's the ultimate Gift from a loving Creator. Your words and photos are also a gift. Thank you!

Thanks you Ann and I like that idea of human attention/love. I too never get tired or bored of observing nature.

Along a similar but not quite the same idea, there is something I sense observing American Crows. It is like they can sense that I am observing them. It's an odd feeling that is hard to explain.

Agreed about the ultimate Gift from a loving Creator.

What a great photo! It’s so rare to actually see coyotes because normally, you only hear them. They are such majestic, beautiful animals! 🐺

Thanks and much appreciated. I used to hear them more when I lived in Calgary as I lived on the edge of town surrounded by farm fields. The howls and barking at night was interesting. :)

I heard them howling near me mostly in the summer and fall. I haven’t noticed them much during winter, but I’m sure they’re still around 😄

So wonderful, especially the "no-mind" state you were in for those precious moments. Thanks for sharing this!

This is a beautiful photo and post. I live in an area where some people unfortunately vilify them and even advertise offers to shoot any that are reported. These people think that the coyotes kill their dogs. However, why are these folks leaving their dogs outside to be available in the first place? It deeply saddens me.

Thanks Marylin and much appreciated. That's too bad about the vilification of them too. I think they're amazin to watch just go about their day: walking, trotting, etc. I do miss the ones I used to see daily while living in Calgary. They're a little more stealthy here in Ottawa and more difficult to observe.
