In a well-travelled corner of a forest: remnants of trees.
Protruding like tombstones from the forest: much remains hidden.
Yet life seeks tomorrow perched atop the wood graves of yesterday.
I took these photos December 15, 2024. This area of the park is maintained by the National Capital Commission here in Ottawa and they regularly fell dead trees. There are stumps scattered about that make great perches and tables.
As I was passing by, I heard claw scratching on wood. I stopped and looked around and saw this American Red Squirrel sitting atop one of the stumps.
I had left some peanuts at one of my regular location about 20 yards from this stump. Maybe this squirrel was seeking additional donations?
English - Korean:
American Red Squirrel = 아메리카붉은다람쥐 / america-bulgeun-daramjwi
America = 아메리카 / america
Red = 붉은 / bulgeun (sort of like “bool-geun”)
Squirrel = 다람쥐 / daramjwi
Beautiful colors Neil and I love the last line of your Sijo. Thank you for sharing.
